16 december 2025

The latest feature film by director Tudor Giurgiu, 3 Days in September, has been selected for the prestigious Limelight section of the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR). Now in its 55th edition, the festival will take place from January 29 to February 8.

With an average attendance of 275,000 viewers and over 2,000 film industry professionals from more than 100 countries, IFFR is one of the world’s most important film festivals, recognized both for its scale and its artistic relevance. The Limelight section brings together award-winning films, box-office successes, and upcoming titles by established auteurs. In 2026, the selection will include productions such as Father Mother Sister Brother by Jim Jarmusch, No Other Choice by Park Chan-wook, Dead Man’s Wire by Gus Van Sant, Silent Friend by Ildikó Enyedi, and L’étranger by François Ozon, alongside the Romanian film 3 Days in September. This selection confirms the international visibility of Romanian cinema and places Tudor Giurgiu’s new project alongside some of the most significant titles in contemporary filmmaking, within one of the most influential film festivals in the world.

3 Days in September is an explosive romantic comedy that follows the unpredictable journey of a woman toward freedom and self-discovery. The film was shot in September in Eforie Sud as part of the Arome Film Creative Camp and stands out through an ambitious cinematic approach: a 65-minute single take, filmed without interruption, in the garden of Hotel Arome 22, on the streets, and on the beach of Eforie Sud, by a crew of over 70 people. The decision to shoot in a single continuous shot places the audience directly inside the heroine’s emotional spiral, amplifying the sense of chaos and fostering a far more intimate connection with the characters, events, and emotional states she encounters along her journey.

The leading roles are played by well-known and beloved actors: Andreea Vasile (Why Me?, Shadows, Ramon), Emilian Oprea, Conrad Mericoffer, Mirela Zeța, Emilia Popescu, Adela Popescu, and Maria Junghietu.

The screenplay is written by Conrad Mericoffer, Radu Grigore, and Tudor Giurgiu, with cinematography by Alexandru Dorobanțu, one of the most acclaimed directors of photography in advertising and music videos, now making his feature film debut. The creative team also includes Adela Cotimanis (production design), Miruna Bălașa (costume design), Daniel Soare (sound), Alex Pintică (editing), and Raluca Moldoveanu (make-up).

3 Days in September is an independent production, co-produced by Point Film, StaySharp.Film, Libra Films, and Arome 22.

Arome Film Creative Camp is an annual creative camp that aims to revitalize Eforie Sud as a tourist and cultural destination by highlighting its heritage and local history, while attracting new artists and audiences through the creation of a film during the camp. Project partners include: Eforie Sud City Hall, Regina Maria, Aqua Carpatica, Jidvei, Iulius Group, and the Union of Film and Audiovisual Producers (UPFAR).

In Romania, the film is distributed by Transilvania Film and will premiere on September 18.
